A brand new quiz every Thursday!

What number is XL in Roman numerals?

Only 44% of players knew what number XL stands for in Roman numerals, which made it the trickiest question in Quiz 45. The average family still scored a healthy 11.6 out of 15, with 77% of all answers coming in correct.

Families in South Australia led the states with an average of 84%, a full 11 points clear of Queensland.

What does XL mean in Roman numerals?

XL is 40. The X, worth 10, sits before the L, worth 50, and when a smaller numeral comes first you subtract it, so 50 minus 10 gives you 40.

Just 44% of players got there, which made this the hardest question of the week and helped make Maths the toughest category. If your child spotted the subtraction trick, they beat more than half the country.

Who is the hero in The Legend of Zelda?

The hero in the green outfit is Link. Plenty of players likely went with Zelda, since that name is sitting right there in the title.

In the end 58% of players landed on Link, so this one genuinely split the room. A good one to settle at the dinner table with any gamers in the house.

You're looking at the bathroom clock in the mirror. What time is it really?

Mirror clock

The real time was 3:30. In a mirror everything flips left to right, which is why the clock looks so wrong at first glance.

A very solid 72% of players worked it out, which is impressive for a puzzle designed to melt brains before breakfast.
