This one goes way back, from the very earliest days of Kids Quiz Weekly. A few of its questions have aged into absolute classics, so they deserve a proper look back.
Why is Mars called the Red Planet?
Mars gets its nickname from iron oxide, better known as rust, coating its surface and giving the whole planet a reddish colour. It is essentially a rusty planet.
A classic opener, and still one of the first space facts most kids learn.
What colours are on the flag of Wales?
Have a look at the flag above, because something is off. The bottom stripe should be green, not blue. The real Welsh flag is a red dragon on a white and green field.
Spot-the-wrong-colour flags became a KQW staple after this one.
What is a palindrome?
A palindrome is a word that reads the same forwards and backwards, like level, racecar or mum. Kids tend to spend the rest of the day hunting for new ones once they learn the word.
That was the quiz that started it all. The questions have sharpened since, but the recipe was already there.
